EGX 30 Certificates Issuance by The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS)

Open End Certificates

EGX gave a license to The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), previously known as ABN-AMRO, to issue 500,000 open end certificates, the first plain vanilla derivative product on EGX 30 Index. The certificates were listed and traded on SWX or Swiss Exchange on 27 October 2005.
EGX is the first Arab Exchange in the region whereby derivative products were issued based on its in-house designed index.
Another 50,000 open end certificate were issued by RBS and were listed and traded on Frankfurt Stock Exchange on 31 October 2005.

A third issuance of 500,000 open end certificates by RBS were listed and traded on Euronext Amsterdam on 9 March 2006.
Issuance of EGX 30 Open Certificates reflects foreign interest in the Egyptian market and is expected to enhance liquidity in the market.

A fourth issuance of 450,000 open end certificates issued by RBS were listed and traded on Euronext Paris on 25 July 2008.

Close End Certificates

The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) issued a 500,000 close end certificates with a price of 7.14 Euro per certificate, worth 3,570,000 Euro, to be listed and traded on Borsa Italiana effective the 15th of June 2006. The certificates will mature after 4 years on June 18th , 2010.

EGX 30 EUR X-Pert Certificates Issuance by Deutsche Bank

EGX granted a license to Deutsche Bank to issue Open End Certificates “EUR X-Pert Certificates” on EGX 30 Index to be listed and traded on Frankfurt and Stuttgart Stock Exchanges.

Deutsche Bank issued 1 million open end certificates in Euro that were listed and traded on Frankfurt and Stuttgart Stock Exchanges on 13 March 2006.

This issuance by Deutsche Bank is the second following RBS issuance and shows continued interest from international investment banks regarding the Egyptian market.

EGX 30 Open End Certificates Issuance by Goldman Sachs International

EGX granted a third license to Goldman Sachs International to issue Open End Certificates on EGX 30 Index to be listed and traded on Frankfurt and SWX Exchanges.

Goldman Sachs International issued 500,000 open end certificates that were listed and traded on Frankfurt & Stuttgart Stock Exchanges on 5 May 2006.

Goldman Sachs International issued 380,000 open end certificates that were listed and traded on Swiss Exchange on 10 May 2006.

This issuance by Goldman Sachs is the third one following RBS and Deutsche Bank issuances and is another confirmation of the interest from international investment banks regarding the Egyptian market.
